There is a springs resort in Pangasinan where we stayed overnight just a few weeks before typhoon Pepeng wreck its havoc in the area. It's the Caraballo Springs Resort. Got a few shots of the place. I wonder if that cool, nice resort which is just a short distance away from San Quentin Public Market has been severly affected. I hope not.

Re - typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng
It was said that it was just purely coincidence that storm Ondoy and Pepeng, big storms that hit our country, arrived one after the other. Maybe was also pure coincidence that these natural disasters brought havoc in the country just a few months after actor Richard Guitierrez has hosted a show that tackles the issue on nature preservation!
I hope we learned a lot from Richard's show and from the two typhoons that devastated a huge area of the country. Wake up, people! Let's open our minds about pollution, climate change and the proper use of nature's resources. Bawas ng legal/illegal logging, mga industrial waste/pollutants, squatters blocking the water spillways...!

Ondoy - 100 death as of today!
Typhoon Ondoy has already left the country but deaths brought by this storm is still counting! It was reported that the heavy rain that poured on the morning of Saturday, September 26,2009 up to 2 P.M. in the afternoon was equivalent to a 6 months rain on a normal rainy season. As of this date, private foundations like GMA Kapuso Foundation , continue to distribute foods and other assistance to the victims. On times like this, "bayanihan" is reborn and heroes were born! Richard Gutierrez is one hero his fans will never forget for the deed he made in retrieving Ms. Kristine Reyes from her flooded house. This is one tragedy Filipinos will long remember.

Ondoy..Storm extra ordinaire!
Ondoy was the latest storm that hit the country. So far, it was the worst to hit our place here in the area of Cavite in terms of the volume of water that flooded our house! We were prepared for the coming in of the flood water from the highland but we did not expect it to be so sudden and so fast! In the end however, we are among the lucky to survive it without too much damage in the household.

My 3D Photo Album
The Magic of Comics
Check out this new anime from Marvel. Got to love this! Been collecting Marvel comics since my teenager days and I really got tons of old comics which I really, really treasured. What's amazing really is that lots of gadgets the creators of the comics in the '80's put in their works are actually being used in real life now. Some classic examples are the 3G cellphones, the big flat TVs & the real time video conferences! Creative minds. Wow.! What's new? Internet Comics! And G-r-e-a-t anime artworks over the net. It's amazing to see these old comic characters come to life! My favorites are Iron Man and Fantastic Four! You can follow Marvel updates at Twitter!

Did you know... that a dog doesn't cool its body by sweating like us? Instead, it sticks out its tongue and pants so that water evaporates from the mouth to cool its body.
Did you know...that healthy puppies sleep almost all day, while full-grown dogs spend about half a day napping!

Remembering Apollo Space Program
I would never want to pass this very momentous event without posting anything about it on my blog. It's about the Apollo space program that just celebrated its 40th anniversary this year. The space flight program was much known to start when the very first man-made moon, Sputnik, was launched by the Soviet Union. Ever since then, I became an avid enthusiast of the space program. What a thrilling experience to actually see Neil Armstrong made his first step on the surface of the moon!
Here's remembering Apollo.

Job Hiring for SM Rosario
Another SM Department Store is soon-to-open and it will be in our place at Rosario, Cavite!
Another good news: Yesterday when I was on my way to a car repair shop, I noticed a group of teenagers heavily lined up to the entrance gate of a preserved parked in our town. I parked my car on the other side and that's when I noticed the big tarpaulin announcing that the soon-to-be-opened SM Hyperstore in our place is having a two-day job hiring on July 3 & 4, 2009.
Lucky, lucky Rosario! One big mall coming up and many, many local residents are going to have jobs! Added to that is the fact that I won't have to travel 17 kilometers to get to the nearest SM (SM Bacoor) because we now have one in our own town!
Good luck, Rosario for the all the "good things" that this development has to offer! To our police authorities, this is another calling that requires more of your presence and additional initiatives as I am sure those bad elements will also come into play!

This is Me!
One of our web design artist was tasked to draw a caricature of each and every personnel of the office. Well, I managed to get the draft of the sketch she drew of me before she had it submitted to HR. Hmm...this may seem to look like me. Do I look like George Bush? I used to look more like Chuck Norris when I was younger! (When I am still sporting a moustache then.)

Rosario's famous Tinapang Salinas
Rosario, Cavite's participation on the country's "One Town, One Product" (OTOP) promotion is the "tinapang salinas". Rosario has a long-time fish port known as "Pandawan". Hence, fish are bountiful and "smoked fish", also called "tinapa" became the top source of livelihood for many of its constituents. The video is but such a tribute and a great show of appreciation to the town's OTOP product and also to the other great cultural practices of the town that is known worldwide.

Rosario Town Fiesta
This year, the town of Rosario in Cavite is celebrating its town fiesta on May 23 & 24, 2009. People in our town honor Our Most Beloved Patroness La Nuestra Señora del Santissimo Rosario de Caracol by parading the blessed image of our patron on the morning of the first day of celebration which we call "karakol" & then a procession on the second night. Here are some videos of the past fiesta celebrations.

ATLANTIS, Why Are You Up There?
Up to now, many people are still wondering why are we exploring outer space. Fortunately, the answer to the question is abundantly provided by the Internet. NASA.gov is only one of these many sites available to get up-to-date information. I would like to add one more answer to the question through the image that I am posting here. This is just from one space shuttle mission, STS 125. In words, it is simply HUBBLE + ATLANTIS= TIME OF THE PAST and THE FUTURE TIME OF MANKIND!
Giant space telescope Hubble provided us great images of other stars and planets. These are the views of the past, images of stars millions of years ago because what Hubble sees today are millions of light years away and millions of years ago! ATLANTIS is NOW. For this particular flight, ATLANTIS "re-energized" HUBBLE so it can be serviceable for another 10 years or more. And, ATLANTIS is just one of the many space flights that help in providing us more knowledge that will keep us and the future generations to continue treking the universe as long as it can be.

Recently, I opened an account at Twitter. Twitter has been out for quite a while now but I did not jump into it at once. I am already a member of a few social sites like Tagged, Flixter, Perfpot & Flicker, so what else is new!
Oh well, out of curiosity I went into it. Nothing new really. Just got a big surprise when a famous Filipina actress became my "follower". My next reaction is to check if she is "legit". Well, she is and now I am her follower too. This multi-talented actress is my "kababayan" so I am really proud of her. Her name is Marian Rivera! I was tempted to post her picture here. Isn't she simply beautiful?
You can also follow my updates at Twitter.

Manny Pacquiao Wins
It was a quick win for Manny Pacquiao over Ricky Hatton. But don't ever think that it was easy. I had some scary moments too during the very first minutes of the first round. I know Ricky Hatton will employ some "tactics" that will attempt to make Manny forget his own tactics for the fight! But then again, Manny's months of training for this fight conditioned him so well and was able to fight at his own tempo! Congratulations, Manny! Congratulations, Philippines!

NASA Television on YouTube
I have always been a space science enthusiast. It was my Dad who introduced me to it and as I grew up, my interest on this field of science never drifted. Along with my cousin, we formed a group we called Space Explorers. Our activities included making rocket models & creating scrapbooks out of the collection of photos we cut from magazines and newspapers. We attended science exhibits where we show off the space rocket models we built and also the numerous books and magazines NASA Educational Publications sent us. During the time, acquiring 8"x10" of autographed photos of the pioneering astronauts were a treasure for me! Oh, how times have changed! Now that I have my own blogsite, I am so excited to post the NASA Television on YouTube. I consider this is an even greater treasure!!

Water! Lot's of it! But its not from NAWASA!
Yes! There's plenty of water in our tank reservoir now. Two weeks ago, my daughter sent me a drill-powered water pump to help me solve our water crisis. NAWASA's water supply continues to be non-existent during the day. You have to wait past midnight to have your water containers get wet...and be filled with water along with some brown particles with it! By the way, water filters that you put at the tip of the faucet are very much in demand in our area too! Pls see attached photo. The tip of the hose has a filter but inspite of that, you can see the brown color of the water that comes out of the hose. The intensity of the "brownish" coloring varies..there are days that these are lighter. I have also tried different brands of filters to test which one last longer so I would not buy too often! We NEVER use NAWASA water for drinking. Ever since, we relied on filtered water for our drinking water. The water at the reservoir is also used for domestic cleaning only.
I just use the drill-powered water pump to transfer the water from the deep well to the overhead tank as it was not designed to suck water from the well up to the tank. It is still a manual effort to pump the water from the deep well but it's okay. There's a few of us at the household that can alternately pump up the water. Better than waiting till morning for NAWASA's water supply to fill our containers! Hooray! Thank you "Clarke" (that's the brand of the drill-powered water pump I have. And, thank you Chaps!)

Introduction to Internet
I just can't help but share this video about introduction to Internet. I have previously posted blogs about the topic on Internet and this one should top up what one has already learned about the Internet. And, just like what an old sayings teach us: keep acquiring knowledge but don't let it stay just within you...share it so you will have more space to accept more knowledge! Conficker Worm Still a Threat
The latest post from Yahoo!Tech says Conficker's treat is still very much real. Those people behind tracking the people behind Conficker says that there's already an estimated one to two million computers worldwide that are infected with Conficker. I just hope the $250,000 bounty for the tracking down of the creators of this computer worm helps! Read more about this news at Yahoo!Tech.

Monsters vs Aliens
It was several years back when Monsters, Inc. was shown. Now, our friendly Monsters are back. Check this movie and see what has "changed" since the first one. Catch them when they stared bouncing back...in 3D!
When California girl Susan Murphy is unwittingly clobbered by a meteor full of outer space gunk on her wedding day, she mysteriously grows to 49-feet-11-inches tall. Alerted to the threat of this new monster, the military jumps into action and Susan is captured and secreted away to a covert government compound. There, she is renamed Ginormica and placed in confinement with a ragtag group of other monsters: the brilliant but insect-headed Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D.; the macho half-ape, half-fish The Missing Link; the gelatinous and indestructible B.O.B.; and the 350-foot grub called Insectosaurus. Their confinement is cut short, however, when a mysterious alien robot lands on Earth and begins storming the country. In a moment of desperation, The President is persuaded by General W.R. Monger to enlist the motley crew of Monsters to combat the Alien Robot and save the world from imminent destruction.
